Organization Commitment, Regulatory Compliance, and Technical Standards

ACS Publications is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including individuals with disabilities. We strive to meet the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and conform to EN 301 549 v.3.2.1, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 standards, and other applicable international accessibility laws and standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Our goal is to provide an inclusive experience across all ACS digital platforms.

Status of Compliance

ACS Publications is partially compliant with (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. While most content is accessible, some legacy documents and third-party tools may not fully meet accessibility standards. We are actively working to address these issues.

The VPAT report was created July 2025.

Accessibility Compliance Observations:

  • Screen Reader Compatibility: Our accessibility analysis was conducted using NVDA and JAWS screen readers.
  • PDF Accessibility: Our evaluation indicates that the Microsoft Edge browser extension supports keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility for PDF documents.
  • Figure Accessibility in Journal Articles: While figure captions in journal articles are machine-readable, in many cases the figures themselves often lack alternative text descriptions. If you require an alternative format or description for any figure, please contact us at [email protected]
