Physical Chemistry

Physical chemistry is a branch of chemistry that applies the core techniques and theories of physics to the study of chemical systems in order to ask questions about how matter behaves at a molecular and atomic level, and how chemical reactions occur. It is concerned with the interactions and transformations of materials, and the principles that guide these processes. This includes concepts such as motion, energy, and thermodynamics, as well as quantum chemistry, mechanics, analytical dynamics, and chemical equilibria. Physical chemistry is a fundamental science with applications in diverse fields such as engineering, biomaterials, and molecular modeling.
